IF YOU ARE OF A NERVOUS DISPOSITION
OR
IF YOU LOVE YOUR PRII,
LOOK AWAY NOW.

I was sent these photos in 2010 by this amp's new owner (thanks!). It probably sounds great, but.....

top and front of
        heavily-modified PRII
OK, so it's a PRII with black grille-cloth. And the metal hardware has been painted yellow. Er, and an extra knob on the right-hand side, labelled with Dymo (TM) tape. Let's go 'round the back...

heavily-modfified PRII
        rear photo
Looks like an EV speaker. But wait... why are the power valves on the right-hand side? And aren't they too big to be 6V6s? Why is there a hole where one of the footswitch connections used to be? And shouldn't the reverb connections be on the rear panel?

heavily-modified
        PRII chassis
a-ha... those are 6L6s (on the left in this photo). That's a different output transformer beside them. And the speaker connection is now on the base of the chassis instead of the back panel. And there's an extra cap can. And five preamp valves intead of four. And yet some preamp valve holes are unused.

        PRII
Where's the PRII circuit board? Looks like a PCB nearest the controls, plus 2 other smaller fibre boards. Is that a standby switch next to the pilot lamp? Is this really a PRII at all?

not the neatest
        soldering
(probably kindest not to say anything....)

and now, a word from our sponsor....
